The missing Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 has continued to be present in the US even though other places have longed moved on.The story has continued to grace all news stations from CNN to FOX. Some might say Americans are so interested because it is filled with drama and reminds us of a hollywood movie. Even though only three Americans were on board, it still seemed to have a major impact on the country.The story vanished from most Australian front pages and websites weeks ago, despite the search occurring there. Other international channels began covering the crisis in Ukraine and the Oscar Pistorius trial in South Africa. But CNN in the U.S. continued to focus on the plane.Even in China, the social media has died down.Most likely because America is obsessed with technology, we find it impossible that a modern Boeing 777 carrying 239 people could vanish in an age where an iPhone can be tracked from about anywhere.Even though there have been no new discoveries, Americans have stayed glued to their smartphones and TVs watching the multiple channels covering the event.A poll was taken that tested Americans and resulted with 33 percent of people saying they followed the plane catastrophe over the shooting at Fort Hood Army base, developments related to Ukraine and Obamacare. CNN reported that its viewer demographic more than doubled after its plane reporting began."It's almost like all the seasons of 'Lost' was the promotional period for this story."
In my opinion, I don't think our coverage of the plane is a bad thing, I actually think it's good that Americans are still trying to find an answer. To me, it seems disrespectful to the families who lost people to just forget about the whole event. I also think Americans are more interested because they probably believe this whole thing is a terrorist plot against the US.
