I’m sure most have heard the controversy over statements made by Donald Sterling, owner of the Los

Angeles Clippers. In the article, NBA Hits Clippers Owner Sterling With Lifetime Ban, $2.5 Million

Fine, by Bill Chappell, the decision made today is discussed. It was announced today that after racist

statements made on Friday, Sterling will be banned from the NBA. This includes attending games or

practices, being present at facilities or being active in the team. While often, sports suspensions are

short lived and not serious, I feel that this issue will most definitely be followed through with. It’s

strange that people still think this way but unfortunately they do and I think that this reaction was

warranted.

  1. The strangest thing about this whole story is although Sterling is clearly a racist, he has a NAACP award. He probably only got it because he is so rich that he has to give away money for tax purposes. But the fact that he has it, is incredibly ironic.
