Gay Leader Banned from Boy Scouts

http://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-27106106

The Boy Scouts of America has revoked the charter of a scouting group at a church in the US state of Washington after learning its leader is gay.
Geoff McGrath was ejected from the scouts last month and the group's charter was revoked on 17 April.
The Boy Scouts voted last year to allow gay boys within their ranks but barred gay men from adult leadership roles.
Analysis:
I find it amazing that with all of the negative press the boy scouts received last year, they still haven't changed their policy. Especially with the boy scouts being a non-religious and non-denominational organization, sexuality shouldn't be an issue. To revoke an entire groups membership all because of one leaders sexuality, defeats the entire purpose of the boy scouts.  Even to use the church as an excuse to take away the charter isn't valid because individuals within the same church and religious sect can have different perspectives on homosexuality. There are still debates and interpretations on what the Bible says about it. Anyway, the main point is that you can't take a charter of a non-religious organization away because the specific group that was through the church had a leader that was gay.

  1. This is ridiculous! I can't believe Boy Scouts would do something like this. I agree that the leader's sexuality should not have played into this decision at all.

  2. Discrimination against gender is not something that should be brought forth to the attention of young boys, this puts their mindset wrong from the beginning. Being accepting of other peoples choices and belief is what needs to be spread. I mean, if he tried something on a child... then that's a whole different story....
