The article I chose is about an African American woman who is now the publisher and editor of the Alabama newspaper that recently urged the Ku Klux Klan to "night ride again", the paper said. Elecia R. Dexter, a stratgic leader with expertise in human resources, operations and change management" took up the positions Thursday, the weekly Democrat-Reporter of Linden said in a press release. Dexter replaced Goodloe Sutton, the newspaper's owner who penned a staggering editorial with the headline "The Klan Needs to Ride Again" in the paper's Feb. 14 edition. Dexter says that Sutton still owns the newspaper. Sutton's editorial sparked outrage around the country "Time for the Klu Klux Klan to night ride again". Republican Party and Democrats are plotting to raise taxe in Alabama." Sutton stressed that he wasn't calling for the hangings of all Americans, just the "socialist-communists". Sutton wrote, "Seem like the Klan would be welcome to raid the gated communities up there," Klan memebers used night rides to terrorize blacks and their white allies with violence, including lynchings and firebombings. Sutton compared the Klan to NAACP and siad they weren't "as violent as they needed to be".

This relates to U.S History because of the Klu Klux Klan and the NAACP,  National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, which wa set up in 1909 and it aimed to abolishing segregation and achieving equal voting rights and educations opportunities for black people. They fought lynchings and tried to encourage people to vote. However the reason many people didn't vote was because of the KKK and other groups giving threats.
