Since the failure of the jury to reach a verdict on the Bill Cosby case in 2017, a second trial was created to see if a decision can be make on the guilt, or innocence, of Bill Cosby in his alleged sexual assault against Ms. Constand. The trial, which started on Monday, started off with a bang in the reveal that Cosby reached a $3.4m civil settlement in 2006. It is too early to estimate the potential success of the case, but in my opinion, Cosby will most likely be charged and serve a prison sentence.
This event is similar to the #MeToo movement taking place on Twitter a few months ago, in which several people shared stories of sexual misconduct in their workplace. The movement most likely had an impact in the decision to re-try Cosby.

It is good that he is finally being tried again. Hopefully if he is guilty he will be put to justice.
ReplyDeleteI really hope he gets the punishment he deserves
ReplyDeleteI'm glad he gave her that much but the only thing he has yet to pay is jail time. All the money in the world can't fix the scars you leave on one's mind after something as brutal and twisted as rape.
ReplyDeleteConvicted or otherwise, the fact that Bill Cosby has made it this far without major jail time just goes to show the sorry state of women's rights and societal understandings of consent (among other things). From the whole Trump debacle to the institutional misogyny of European nations such as Italy, the world seems to be at a point where a major reckoning is in order concerning attitudes towards gender and sexuality (especially the criminal aspects of the latter).
ReplyDeleteMaria Gonzalez,
ReplyDeleteThe fact that people are still using hush money to keep sexual assault out of the media is sad.
Prosecutors need to get the bottom of this case and every other case concerning Bill Cosby. He obviously committed crimes against multiple women. by Victoria Valdez
