Long Live the Skater Boi by Isabel Wyatt

https://www.nytimes.com/2018/04/07/style/skateparks-around-the-world.html

Skateboarding has been seen as more of a hooligan act in the past than a true sport. Recently, it was added to the Olympics, creating a whole new respect to the skill. Skaters support skaters, but progress only gets made when others recognize and respect what is happening. Being added to the Olympics makes it seen by all generations and walks of life. This is also going to help with the growth in amount of skate parks. More skate parks are always needed and now that cities see them respected by the olympics, more will pop up.

The article was written by Jeff Ihaza and he interviewed multiple people, giving the article more than one voice. It was published in April of 2018. It was written for people to see the changes of culture and how people view things. Something that used to be such an outlandish, punk activity has been more diffused into the general culture around the U.S. and beyond. I think it's nice to read about how things are seen differently through the years and it shows how rapidly the world is always shifting.
