Studies show that in 23% of donor blood are infected with Malaria parasites in African countries. ¼ of blood banks have found malaria parasites in the blood. With a huge range of percentages of positive outcomes. Malaria is a major infection that is passed through blood infusions in these African areas. There has been an immunity to those who have tested positive to this deadly infection.
Considering blood infusions are meant to save a life, this is incredibly concerning. Because of the high rates and percentages of this infection throughout the “healthy” people of Africa, how can those who are in need of blood get the proper care they need? I just wish there good be a way to have further studies and clinical trials to find a cure for those who may be infected with Malaria.
