methane tracking satellite
an environmental organization has revealed plans to moniter methane from space. methane is a potent greenhouse gas that has as many times the warming potential of carbon dioxide on earth. while not being precise enough to identigy invidual wells or farms generating this gas, it will be able to locate areas where methane is high and see how it moves over time. ultimately, people will have to learn how to stop the leaks.
this is interesting to learn how are seeing how other gases are affecting our climate and trying to see how we can put a stop to it. science has come a long way and we're no longer building space crafts and satellites for competition, for the most part, but for figuring out how we are affecting the atmosphere and how we can set a world wide acknowledgement on the issue.
