After the deadly school shooting that occurred, many African American students say that their voice or opinion isn't being heard. Kai Koerber who is a junior said," I don't think our voices were intentionally excluded but they weren't intentionally included either." Nikolas Cruz roamed the hallways of the school on February 14 and killed 17 people. After this tragedy, white students have stressed taking control of gun violence. However, black students have their opinion and their voice isn't being fulfilled. Students have pride in their high school and are working on having their voices heard.
I believe this is tied into the civil rights era. There is a lot of diversity in schools and in such a tragedy, people forget that other races matter as well. My personal experiences, the white people seem to be heard more than the Mexicans or blacks. We need to realize that we are all equal no matter the color on our skin we are all the same flesh and blood.
