Blog Post #6
Summary: Mark Anthony Conditt, the man responsible for the Austin Bombings, used a 'Drive Like Your Kids Live Here' sign to hide a homemade frag bomb. A federal judge dismissed the charges against Conditt because there couldn't and wouldn't be a prosecution since Conditt was dead. Conditt killed himself by exploding a bomb in his car after police began approaching his vehicle. Conditt a 23-year-old is/was responsible for a series of bombings that occurred in Austin for three weeks. Although the motive is unclear and still being investigated, a video of Conditt confessing to the crime was found.
Analysis: This extremely screwed up. The fact that this person used a sign that tried to spread safety awareness of driving speeds as a bomb/weapon is screwed up. Although it has been a couple of weeks since the incidents, footage of the bomber buying the materials has finally released and identified. Unlike shootings, incidents like these are a bit/slightly harder to stop. No laws can be passed against stopping these materials since it was a homemade bomb. However, we can do our best to stay on guard and remain vigilant.
