In the Los Angeles fashion district, some knock off makeup was seized for containing high levels of animal waste, or feces. In Santee Alley, there are a number of kiosks that line the busy street, and many of the people selling the wares don't have a license for manufacturing. On Thursday, the department raided 21 locations and seized over $700,00 in fake makeup. High end brands like Kylie Jenner's Kylie Cosmetics, Urban Decay, MAC, and NARS were found. The packaging looked legit, but the prices were way too low to be considered remotely legal. Users reported rashes and bumps from using the products, so they were tested to see why. The reason was high levels of bacteria and animal waste which could come from wherever the makeup was being made. If manufactured in garages or bathrooms, it is likely that unwanted and disgusting things were mixed in.
This is a horrible thing and it shows how nothing can be really trusted these days. Everyone should be careful with what they use on their bodies, especially if its your face. It is terrible that we have to be skeptical of ordinary things like makeup, but the fact is some people are just out their to make a buck. In fact, these people aren't new, since the beginning of America, there have been scoundrels and con-artists, but now they are more sneaky and have become smarter in conning people.

I use cruelty free things for a reason, and no one believes that it actually makes a difference. Nothing is really safe anymore, but you just have to be cautious in what you're doing.
ReplyDeleteOlivia Wall- Makeup should be treated very importantly because it can cause safety issues.
ReplyDeletei agree more needs to be done
Deleteoh my god! it's scary to think that animal feces could be in things that we use every day. I hope authorities crack down on this issue.
