It is now revealed that for a year a middle aged white manning Australia was running the biggest BLM page on Facebook. The page is said to have had 700,000 followers and revive 100,000 dollars in fundraisers, though some go the money was traced back to an Australian bank account. This discovery has raised many suspensions about Facebooks platform and the things posted there.
This is crazy. I agree with many other people , how can we trust anything anymore. Though it isn’t said that the man had any foul intentions , BLM is a cause that many people risk their lives for and to steal from that is horrible. I tuning facebooks needs stricter requirements to open up organization or groups in the site to make sure they are all legit. This would stop so much fake information for being passed around. This is important to US history because it shows again how people are stealing black culture and making money off of it.
It is sad that people are out their exploiting this issue. A lot has come up for Facebook in the past week it should be interesting to see the future of the website.
ReplyDeleteBut this event shouldn't completely declare the whole movement to be fake.
ReplyDeleteI think what's important for white old men to understand is that while BLM is an important and necessary movement for minority rights, the idea that some white guy is the one behind the scenes totally undermines the message of the whole movement (while also failing to provide a leader able to relate to and speak for the groups for which he/she advocates); and the idea that someone could be profiting off a human rights campaign is despicable.
ReplyDeleteThe movement isn't fake, it's genuine and true to its belief it's only rogue groups like the one in Australia that give the BLM movement a bad reputation. If they truly want to fight for the cause, lying and deception will not boost the movement but give it a sedative.

ReplyDeletei agree with robbyn, the movement shouldnt be determined by one issue.
