How Trump’s Tariffs May Pose a Threat to Allies and Economic Growth

Last week, Trump announced tarrifs on steel (25%) and aluminum (10%). He passed these tarrifs to "help the United States negotiate better terms with two of its closest trading partners, Canada and Mexica". He hasn't really said much else about the tarrifs. He seems to not be thinking about the consequenses that this could bring.

"Experts warned that the tariffs could undermine economic growthand inspire a broader trade war, and also said the way the tariffs were announced underscores Mr. Trump’s capriciousness and willingness to ignore his own advisers."

Many people oppose this new tariff, and Trump doesn't really seem to care. He hasn't said much about critic's opinions, or why he is right to pass this tarrif. The U.S. imports a lot of metal, and this tarrif could lead to metals becoming more expensive for consumers. This is definitely not something that consumers want, and Trump should really consider this (and other factors that have been presented to him).
