Madilyn Weems- Inauguration Protesters and Police clash on Inauguration Day

https://www.nytimes.com/2017/01/20/us/politics/inauguration-protests.html?_r=0

This article discusses how protesters in Washington DC threw violent protests in Trump becoming our president by damaging storefronts, throwing rocks and bricks at police officers, and lighting a limousine on fire. Phalanxes of police officers used pepper spray, flash grenades and other nonlethal crowd-control tools to disperse the protesters. By the end of the day, six police officers had sustained minor injuries and more than 200 people had been arrested. This was not a peaceful protest as it declares in the article, “‘We’re not peaceful,’ said one of the masked protesters who, like many others who clashed with the police, ran away after being approached by reporters.” And it’s terrible that on a day that is supposed to be celebrated in the United States becomes a monstrosity and a cry for help. I am a firm believer that as a human being all you can do is control how you react to a situation, and by these protesters creating such violence is tremendous. Whether we like it or not, Donald Trump is the President of the United States of America, and instead of cursing him how about we try looking for resolutions to the problem? And in a time of uncertainty all we can do is hope and pray so let’s do so. This relates to all of the police problems going on in the world.
