Summary: Recently in Pittsburg, wrongful death lawsuits have been filed after a mystery mold found in bed linens were linked to 5 deaths. It is believed that the mold caused an infection in the patients, effectively killing them. The hospital is working with health officials at the moment, but for a family like Daniel Krieg's, that isn't enough. Krieg was admitted to the University of Pittsburg Medical Center for a kidney transplant and soon became the fifth recipient of a transplant to die of a mold related infection. Other families, like Che DuVall's family, are also following in the footsteps of the Kreig family and shifting the responsibility of her death onto the hospital's negligence. DuVall died after a lung transplant and the family, along with four others, are suing for a whopping $1.35 million dollars each. A hospital environmental specialist issued a 16-page confidential report on the hospital, but for now, lawyers are demanding justice for the families of the victims. Both patients were said to have rhizopus, which is a positive pneumonia infection that requires the removal of lobes from your lungs.
Analysis: I think that this is a very strange ordeal and it is very sad that the families of the victims have to go through this. For them to believe that their loved ones lives would be extended by their transplants, only for them to pass away later is heartbreaking. I really hope that the families win the lawsuit against the hospital for wrongful death. This should not have happened to them.
