Summary: "Welcome to our parade, we will not go away!" words were chanted by marchers in Wasington at the women's march. Marchers will all of different size, color, and sex came to join across the U.S. Wasnington alone attracted over 500,000 people, helping women's rights, not a single person was arrested. " Our dignity, our character, our rights have all been under attack, and a platform of hate and division assumed power yesterday. But, the president is not America. We are America, and we are here to stay." said by actress America Ferrera. The march of people was so big, they had to redirect their route. And, hours after the official march ended, people were still chanting on the street. Many women politicians, activists, and actresses spoke up and show their voice. Many suggest that the size and energy of the march reflected with Trump's election and inauguration.
"We have the power and we will use it."
Analysis:This article written by Meghan Keneally at Jan/22/2017 talks about the annual Women's March. This article proves the power that we can have as people to support and defend a cause. With Donald Trump's inauguration, lots of people showed their rage and fight with the women's march against his discrimination. I love it. It's shocking how he won, but the power of the people can over come him and let their voice be heard. That's what America should be and the Women's March helped give boost and confidence people even more to express. A democracy should be the voice of the people and the march helped me regain that trust that America should be of freedom and not hatred. Another event like this that happened was the Seneca Falls Convention in 1848, helping express women's rights and equality to the people of America and that we will not be silenced.
