Summary: Millions of people joined in the women's march advocating the equal rights of women, creating the spark of creation of a progressive movement attempting to resist an America moving backwards. "People are disgusted, angry. This was more than a moment. It was an awesome communal experience. Everyone was so kind to one another. I think many more people, especially young people, will go into politics." Some are still skeptical that it won't lead to any major change. But talking to the women who flocked to DC, it was clear they have written off Trump and his male-dominated team. Many of them were distraught by Hillary's loss and have been in near-mourning since. They have a deep, chilling fear that Roe v Wade (the anniversary of which is today) will actually be overturned and they will lose control not only of their bodies but of their basic rights and destinies. This fear transcends gender; their anxiety is that over time the rights of all vulnerable citizens will be eroded.
Analysis: This article was written by David Gergen and Martha Pease on January 22, 2017. I heard about the women's march from social media but didn't learn the extent of it until this article. This article was written not only those for women's rights, but those against it, showing the affect of it on the advancement of America.
Synthesis- This article can be connected to the beginning of the women's rights movement in the 1800's and early 1900's before suffrage. They made the same type of efforts that women are showing now in attempt to make their rights clear.
