Kennedy Waterman - Huge Crowds for Women’s Marches Against Trump

All over the country, enormous crowds are participating in Women's Marches. Many participants are wearing pink knitted hats with cat ears on them, referencing Donald Trump's earlier remarks about women. The marches seem to be a mixture of female empowerment and Trump protest. So far, it has been a peaceful march, with little concern of violence. Many people have made signs with things like "Treat women with dignity" and "My body, my choice" written on them. Of course, men and women alike are part of the movement, and the extent of it even reaches South Africa.

This article was created today, January 21st, and has been continuously updated throughout the day. The updates show how the event is currently live. Before reading the article, I knew of the Women's March, and I also knew about Trump's inauguration. This article is being written to inform America of what's going on in (and all over) the country right now. I think it's very important because whether or not you agree with the march itself, the fact that citizens can peacefully protest and use their right to the first amendment of the Constitution is a very big deal. A lot of countries around the world don't have that right, and I think it's an important part of America's democracy. This march on Washington can be related to the march on Washington in 1963, in which 200,000 Americans gathered in Washington, D.C. to shed light on the political and social challenges faced by African Americans.

  1. It's amazing to see women stand up to society and show the world that women are just as strong and empowering as men.

  2. Being a participant in one of the marches, I have to say that it was amazing to walk beside over 5 thousand people of dallas and march down the streets for something we believe in.

  3. I am so glad that in the U.S. we are able to exercise our right to protest. I think it is amazing that people can stand up for what they believe in and all come together.

  4. This march's extent is amazing, especially when coupled with the fact that it has been a peaceful protest - those trying to poke holes cannot rightly call out and condemn rioting (although, knowing Trump's dislike for facts, they'll probably try). I myself didn't know about the march until afterward, despite living downtown, but quite a few of my friends participated.
