The family of a Muslim teenager arrested after a homemade clock he brought to his Texas school was mistaken for a bomb, has withdrawn him from the school. According to the family, his arrest was a harmful effect to the family so now he is moving to on a pilgrimage to Mecca in Saudi Arabia. He built the clock to impress the teacher but she confused it with a bomb.
That is sad because the teacher just saw the clock and felt threatened so she called the cops. I don't know maybe her was a racism took over but then again what if she was taking a precaution. Still the thing is that this boy got arrested when he was just trying to be a good student. This story has opened up the eyes of many. lets just be friendly with each other peace forever.

I feel that it was not the smartest move to bring a homemade clock to school, however he definitely should not have been arrested. It is unfortunate it has traumatized the child and family so much that they decided to move out of the country.
ReplyDeleteIt can go both ways you shouldn't judge people but you also can't a risk like that. So I understand the decisions that what's made in this situation.

I do not think that the clock should have been brought unannounced to school like that. If I was the teacher, I would have also called security. Would you risk hundreds of other lives just for one?.

ReplyDeleteI think of it like this. If a white boy came to school with a homemade clock, he'd get a science award for it or recognition from his teachers. The issue is that he's Muslim and the very first assumption the teacher made was that it was a bomb. Islamophobia is a major issue in this country, especially after 9/11, and I'm glad Obama is seeing past that.
