President Obama and the UN Summit- Nicole Chatham 6th period

The article that I read this week discusses President Obama and the United Nations Summit. The UN met this week in New York from September 25th to the 27th to examine and address many world issues. At this assembly President Obama committed the U.S. to a new blueprint being set for eliminating poverty and hunger worldwide. He offered a 15-year development agenda defense that will require help and trillions of dollars from companies, countries, and civil society. While he agrees that the goals for solving major world problems like poverty are ambitious, he believes that if governments can work together then it can be accomplished.
Analysis- I found this article to be very important as it pertains to the US as a whole and will affect many. I think that any time that the UN meets in order to create solutions to world problems that it is definitely something to be aware of, due to the magnitude of their ability and actions. I can relate this article back in US history to when delegates from twelve of the thirteen colonies met from September 5th to October 26th in 1774, as the First Continental Congress. Their meeting was formed in response to the Intolerable Acts (a major problem to them) and would also need the help of many in order to consider their options and find a solution. It just goes to show that regardless of the time period, when people unite together in a call to action there is bound to be big change.
