Delaware police shoot man in a wheelchair by Shara Jeyarajah P.8

The police shootings never seem to end. The situation that lead up to the shooting was not very clear. According to the cops, a handicapped man had a gun pointed at them, and did not put his hand up when asked, so they fired. In the man's mother's perspective, he had a gun that he used to handicap himself, but he had no intention of using the gun. His hands moved, but there was no gun in his hand. Several cops let out a stream of gunshots at once, killing him. The story is certainly not clear, but one thing that everyone agrees on is that the loss was tragic. In my opinion, the cops were certainly far too aggressive. If they were in real danger, then there must have been a less dangerous way to deal with it rather than all of them shooting at once. This reminds me of the Boston Massacre in a way. It may or may not have been provoked, but the lives that were lost helped fuel a revolution.

  1. Matthew Homsher 9th- It's tragic that they shot the man. It doesn't make sense that they would shoot him, and it's just sad that police officers are making mistakes that result in needless death. Law enforcement needs to be changed, so that this doesn't keep happening. There should be some change in protocol or training to prevent these casualties.

  2. Police shootings have really become a problem lately. Police officers are abandoning their duty of protecting citizens and turned to harming them instead. What caused this shift in mindset, and how do we cease these violent mental methods from developing?

  3. I actually saw the video and it was really disheartening! The man was in his wheel chair and when he moved his hands several shots were fired and he fell out of the chair to his death. Really made me cry.

  4. It's tragic to see another case of police brutality leading to murder. There's an obvious pattern of police killing minorities. Black people, transgender people, and disabled people have been inexplicably oppressed by society, and it's so angering that police are joining in.
