Volkswagen Reeling from a cheating emissions scandal by: Luis Ceja flex period

On friday september 18th Volkswagen was accused by the EPA of cheating on emissions test. The EPA saying it was computer chips installed into the car so it could detect when it was being tested and lower emissions down to below the legal limit. When it was initially reported it didn't have to much buzz. The EPA accused them of having chips in 550,000 cars. Things got crazy when Volkswagen came out and said it wasn't just those 550,000 but actually 11 million cars. The said the would set aside 6.5 billion for legal fees. Which won't be enough as the EPA alone is expected to fine them more than 11 billion dollars. That doesn't include fines in europe and civil court cases against the company and it's executives. The emissions were about 10 to 40 times the legal limit. We also have yet to hear about a recall. Personally this disgust me for many reasons. It's environmentally irresponsible and morally wrong. Volkswagen are paying for it badly but so are so many people who aren't at all responsible investors, and car owner's. What I can't stand is the lack of trust now with Volkswagen. There brand was built on it. On repeat customers who believed in there cars.

  2. It's terrible that the world has been lied to for this long. With increasing air pollution in America, we should be doing whatever we can to put as little pollution as possible into the air.
