Summary: It's currently hunting season for many people in the Rocky Mountains, Canada and Alaska. Because of this, thousands of sports enthusiasts are pouring into the woods; while grizzly bears are preparing to hibernate by eating lotsa food. In the past, many of these sports people have shot bears in self defense(although probably not always, they could have just gotten scared, but it's understandable). This isn't only dangerous for people; the bear deaths are hindering the regrowth of the grizzly bear population. Bear spray was developed in the 1980s as a way to combat this issue. It was incredibly effective; the spray sends bears fleeing the scene pretty quickly. The problem is convincing hunters to carry/purchase the spray.
Analysis: This is good for people when bears are near their camping sites as well. It's also incredibly beneficial to the bears, because they're less likely to be hurt by people defending themselves/scared. It's interesting what smells and sounds repel certain animals, and I'm glad that this repellent alternative and others have been discovered.

I think hunters really should use this spray because the number of bears killed from "self-defense" is way too many. This is a good way to protect yourself without ending another animal's life!
