Troubles With Cruise Ships Jack Mckay

Recently three cruise ships have reported multiple cases of sickness. These three cases, two from the Royal Caribbean's Grandeur of the Sea and one form the Crown Princess Cruise, were inspected by CDC Vessel Sanitation Program environmental health officers who wished to stop cruise lines until the root of the issue was solved but the Cruise Lines legally had to continue. It was found that the cause of illness was from a virus called norovirus which spreads through contaminated food and water or through physical passage. Crowded, contained areas, such as Cruise ships are the perfect harbor of such  illness. Everyone eats the same food on a cruise ship so it makes the virus very easy to catch. Every year, viruses such as these cause 19-21 million illnesses, 56-71 thousand hospitalizations, and 800 deaths.

Ive always wanted to go on a cruise to the Bahamas or some where tropical but reading this article makes me reconsider that. Being trapped on a boat for 12 days thats infested with sickening bacteria doesn't sound to ideal to me.
