Byron Otis-Honduras, Highest Murder Rates
Based on a recent UN report, Honduras was revealed to be the nation with the highest murder rate by far, 90.4 murders for every 100,000 people. The second, Venezuela, was 53.7 murders. Honduras' rates are due mostly to the increased involvement of drug cartels in the area. Mexican cartels are moving there to expand their trade, and with them, bringing violence and death. A news team visited a Honduran police station and waited only 4 minutes for a murder to be reported. A man shot in the right side of his head, everyone in the neighborhood swearing they heard and saw nothing, only going to show the fear this new culture has spread to everyone in Honduras.
