Lauren Cargill - The Two Toed Sloth is Actually a Great Swimmer

Summary: Sloths are known for their incredibly slow way of going about things. They are, in fact, the slowest mammal on earth. During a day they only move about 125 feet. They also spend almost their entire lives upside down. This causes their fur to grow in the opposite direction of all other mammals. This fur allows water to just drip off of them when it rains. This adaptation allows them to surprisingly be pretty good swimmers. However, they are still at risk. Due to deforestation and them being a popular target for exotic pets, they are facing numerous threats.

Analysis: I think sloths are one of the coolest animals out there. Their just so slow. I think that it is important to hear about news like this during the time we are in right now. Sometimes people need  to be reminded that throughout all the bad stuff happening in the world right now, sloths exist. They're just living their normal lives, doing what they normally do, and it's nice to hear about it. This could relate to elephants, who are also facing threats due to their habitats disappearing and poachers.
