Storms, Tornadoes Damage Dozens of Homes in San Antonio Area: Regan Saldana

Summary:

In the first hours of the morning on Monday, February 20th, the San Antonio area in Texas was faced with sever weather. There was said to be a total of 6 tornadoes that touched down in the San Antonio area, most being in largely non-residential areas. No major injuries were reported but 5 minor injuries were said to have occurred that evening due to weather related incidents. In total, 43 home were completely damaged and at least 150 structures in all ere damaged. A local resident of the San Antonio area told her story of when her family of 4 took shelter in a bathtub in their home while a nearby tornado took the roof off of their house. As well as structures, 12 auto-carrier cars derailed off of a Union Pacific Freight rail line when they were blown by the storm. The city and nearby communities are in a state of recovery and expect to soon resolve the expansive power outages in the surrounding areas.

This was written directly after the storm hit the area but it also was long enough to be able to obtain coverage on specific stories of witnesses and a moderate estimate of damages on structures. Before reading this, I knew of storms in the Texas area but did not know the extensive damage the San Antonio area experienced after the storm's passing. The audience for this article was the people in the surrounding areas and Texas in general. The article showed many Texas residents the extent of the damage near San Antonio. The main idea of this was the severe storm that cause 6 tornadoes to tough down in areas surrounding San Antonio, Texas and what damages it had to the area and the residence
