This is another sad example of companies not doing their due diligence to their customers. I hope they face legal prosecution for not protecting, and then notifying, their customers. People should always be vigilant and practice good internet safety. This hack is not dissimilar to the De Lome Letter, that was intercepted and revealed unflattering remarks that the Spanish minister in Washington said about President Mckinley.

Lauren Brady Period 4 February 27, 2017 Unsecured Stuffed Animals Leak Voice Recordings
It has been discovered by Troy Hunt, a security researcher, that CloudPets toys have been hacked. CloudPets toys allow people to send messages, via an app, that are then spoken by the toy. However, it was recently discovered that these messages were saved to an unsecured server that was hacked. The hacker deleted all the data and left a ransom message. CloudPets likely has restored the data, but the hacker had access to personal information and passwords. CloudPets also violated California law by not notifying consumers about the hack.
