Sophia Jalilvand: 5 dead after small plane crashes into Melbourne shopping center

Summary: A small chartered plane (later confirmed a Hawker Beechcraft) crashed into a shopping center at around 9:00 AM on Tuesday morning. It was carrying five passengers after taking off from from Melbourne's Essendon airport. All the passengers were killed by the crash, but luckily the DFO shopping center was closed and nobody else died. All flights in and out of Essodon were temporarily halted.

Analysis: This was a very tragic event. I wonder what happened to where the plane crashed and caused so much destruction. Although it was a relief that DFO was closed, five lives is still a tragedy for friends and families of the people involved.

  1. I just heard about this on the radio, so tragic but it could have been worse if the mall was open. I believe they said one of the victims was from Austin, TX.

  2. It is horrible how 5 innocent people had lost their lives. It makes you realize how precious life is. My thoughts are with their families, as they grieve for their lost loved ones.

  4. This is really tragic. You would think that after 100 years of developing the airplane they wouldn't crash anymore.
