A new study has been released that has cataloged 6,648 separate incidents of oil spills from fracking. The study gathered data from Colorado, New Mexico, North Dakota and Pennsylvania. The scientists believe that making this data more transparent will be beneficial to all in the long run. They seek to reform federal policy on the interplay and communication of this information between states and the general public, which has gone largely uninformed of many of the dangers that oil fracking presents. Most of the spills can be attributed to blatant human error, therefore there is hope that these environmental devastating incidents can be avoided, even if fracking itself cannot.
This study can be synthesized to the the dawning of the information age with the advent of computers and the internet. Now days, we have so much information at our disposal, and businesses and corporation can no longer prey on the ignorance of the masses, however hard they may try.
