Skyler Tepedino - It was "Moonlight," not "La La Land"

Summary:

Director Barry Jenkins wasn't the only one "speechless" after the movie "Moonlight" was announced as the winner of the best picture on Sunday night, following a unpredicted event in Oscars history. Emma Stone says it was one of the craziest Oscars she has ever been too, she says "we made history tonight." But what left everybody was that "Moonlight," was announced as best movie... when in reality it was actually "La La Land." Bonnie and Clyde presented the nominee for best picture and everything was going as planed until Bonnie's big announcement arrived. He looked very confused because he kept looking up and towards Clyde seeing if she knew what was going on, and then looked at Emma Stone and said that "La La Land," won according to CNN. "La La Land," producer Jordan Horowitz finally figured out that it was a mistake and he quickly stopped all the speeches and announced that "Moonlight," had actually won and not them. All the the "La La Land," cast was very confused but were very glad and proud to give up their Oscar.

Analysis:

I think that overall this article was eye opening literally to all the announcers and future ones. This specific event is related back to when Steve Harvey messed up the Miss Universe. He announced the wrong country when he was supposed to announce the Philippines. Also when the other cast members found out that "Moonlight," actually won they were all so supportive and happy for each other. It's really nice to see all these diverse people come together and celebrate their victories together.

  1. It's nice that they weren't sore about the mix-up, although it certainly sucks that they had to go through such a rollercoaster.

  2. I feel bad that they had to go through this! Glad it got cleared up quickly, though.

  3. I don't know how they let that happen but everyone was gracious and respectful.
