Synopsis: Recently President Donald Trump released an executive order which pretty much locked the gates of America from certain countries. This was his first step to "fight terrorism" in the U.S.. During his campaign for president he spoke of "extreme vetting," but has instead decided to just block off entrance entirely. Luckily, a Washington judge ruled the travel ban was unconstitutional, and it has been brought to a halt (at least for now). Trump has since said that he believes the ruling will be overturned, and he is currently working to do so.
Analysis: I honestly think it's funny that the first big action done by Trump as president was shot down so quickly. Just days after it was instated it was taken down. I hope this foreshadows a future pattern in Trump's term as president. The travel ban was just outright foolish. He thought he could not only ban an entire group of individuals from entering the country, but also legal residents from reentering. There are numerous stories of people with legal residency documents and green cards not being allowed to return to the Unites States. Actions like this should not, and cannot, be allowed to take place. This is why the checks and balances system exists, which probably blindsided President Trump. Soon he's going to realize that being president doesn't mean he gets to play God.
Synthesis: An executive order of this magnitude is equal to the Indian Removal Act, which was written into law by Andrew Jackson. This act was also ruled unconstitutional, only Andrew Jackson ignored this and continued the order. I can only hope the President Trump doesn't do the same.
