Rachel Bozalis - Major Tech Companies against Trump's Travel Ban

A total of 97 companies, including Netflix, Apple, and Facebook, have all recently joined together to file a court  motion claiming that Trump's executive order on immigration violates the constitution and immigration laws. Most of the companies that signed are technology companies, who feel that this ban will hurt their companies and also believe it to be unconstitutional. The case has been filed in the San Francisco based Ninth Circuit court, which is believed to be one of the most liberal in the nation. Regardless of the decision made, the case will likely move to the Supreme Court next. Trump's order bans citizens of seven muslim-majority countries from entering the US for the next 90 days and all refugees for 120. It also indefinitely bans all syrian refugees.

Hearing big business companies like Apple, Facebook, etc join together to fight this corruption makes me feel hopeful that the country will not change as much as I had feared. I hope that this court case goes in the direction of trump's opposers, as I personally hate (and yes, I acknowledge that hate is a strong word and stand behind my word choice) Trump's order. People are stranded overseas, families are separated, and refugees are stuck in areas less welcoming and less prosperous than when the United States was just a few months ago. Similar to the gilded age, the current government is becoming increasingly corrupt. The people are responding well, however, by fighting against the corruption through protests and other demonstrations.

  2. I love that even though there is horrible corruption going on, the people do have the power, and have a voice. I love that these companies all banded together to fight back.
