One dead and another injured in shooting at Winston- Salem State University earlier this Sunday. The university went on lockdown and called police around 1:20 and state police are now assisting the campass police in the investigation. They believe that the shooter was not a registered student, or even a student at all.
analysis: I know that the first thing people are going to jump to is that they need better security and police protection, but in an instance like this, the police cant prepare for something like this. If outside visitors are invited and welcome to visit the students then they can't be able to determine who is good or bad. But, that is only to a certain extent. The students should be able to feel safe no matter where they are, but especially on campus. While they don't know exactly who the person was, who he was targeting, or how he got on the campus, they do need to figure out a safer plan so that the students don't feel at risk every time they step foot on their school.

ReplyDeleteI agree that events like these are so not preventable with the wide accessibility to guns. In theory more police protection sounds like a reasonable solution but when it comes down to it an event like this is impossible to prepare for.
