On Friday, November 27, a shooting took place at a Planned Parenthood facility in Colorado Springs. The event lasted nearly six hours, and it left three people dead and nine more injured. Accused suspect Robert Lewis Dear has not yet disclosed any motives. Dear told officials he has anti-abortion and anti-government views, but that these things weren't necessarily involved in his choice to (allegedly) plan the shooting. Officers also found propane tanks in Dear's car, leading them to believe he was trying to cause an explosion.
Although the true motives haven't been identified, one could guess by the location of the shooting that the shooter was motivated by their opposition to abortion. Abortion has been a long-standing political issue that illustrates the difficulty of mixing politics with religion.

ReplyDeleteAgreed, i also wrote my blog on this article and it just makes me so sad to think about what people can do. Although his motive is unidentified, it makes no excuse for his actions.
