November 27th 2015 ~Two New York natives Stephen Howells and Nicole Vaisey kidnapped two Amish teenagers and held them captive for a full day until they were caught by the police. During that time there were four other victims that were terrorized, beaten, and sexually assaulted. This occured in August 2014. Now the trial is underwy and after the couple admitted back in May of this year that they did cmmit the awful crimes the trial is set for December 17th of this year. Supposedly the couple is facing 580 years each if and when they are found guilty. The police do possess tapes that were filmed of the minors performing sexual acts during the 24 hours the victims were in the couple's custody. Fortunately the children were returned safely to their homes. Unfortunately the other half of the couple, Nicole Vaisey claims she didn't want to do it, but having felt like she was his slave and he convinced her that he owned her soul she couldn't disobey his orders. Stephen Howells attorney states that the acts of this couple are a result of Howells childhood of abandonment and also abuse.
This case will be a result of the 6th amendment that they have a right to a speedy trial and also amendment 7 which states that there will be a jury present. For everyone's sake I hope that these two criminals are locked away for the longest time.
