The story of Ahmed Mohammed being falsely arrested for having an explosive device has circled its way through every news channel. As you know, he had brought a clock to school and the olive we're called thinking it was a bomb. Except it wasn't. After this story came out and made its loop, Ahmed says he's now seeking $15 million dollars as well as an apology from the chief of police and the mayor. As crazy as that sounds, here's why: his attorney says his "civil rights were being violated" because he did not have the Miranda Rights read to him as he was being arrested, was "psychologically traumatized", and he forever has a damaging reputation as "clock boy". The officials there even had the audacity to say that this was somehow "good for him" and it "showed his resilience."
This is similar to the treatment of Muslim-Americans after 9/11 when they couldn't be constantly searched of suspected of terrorist activities. Even though, the time elapsed between these two events is very short, it still doesn't excuse the change that needs to happen surrounding the unfair stereotype of Muslim people.
