Black Friday Protest Katie Schell (flex)

original- Nov. 28, 2015 by: Michael Martinez

Using the cover of Black Friday thousands of people protested in Chicago's luxury corridor and demanded the resignations of the city's top leaders on the claim that they had covered up a police video showing an officer killing teenager Laquan McDonald for over a year now. The protesters also demanded that  federal investigation be done to the Chicago Police Department.

Black Friday is always crazy no matter where you are. I can clearly see how upset these people must have been about the death of Laquan and how bad this looks with the Chicago police. Keeping quiet on a murder is a tricky thing and should not have been done in this case. I think that justice and closure for these people is necessary but there are other ways of obtaining it that don't involve protests and more unneeded confusion on a hectic day like Black Friday. This could have so easily turned ugly and we do not need that right now with everything else that is going on. Protests have always been good at getting the public's attention, but in times like these people need to realize that they don't have to make a fuss in order to be right.

  1. I agree with you. The police shouldn't of kept this a secret, but Black Friday was not the right day to protest.

  2. Why would the police try to keep it quiet if they didnt think that they did anything wrong.
