Dash cam video of the shooting of 17 year old Laquan Mcdonald has finally been released to the public. There's no debate about the police officer's actions and if there justified or at least there shouldn't be. There are a couple problems I have though with the whole handling of the situation. It took the video over a year to be released and was only done so because of a court order. There's a lot of other questions to be asked. Like why there was no audio and why video wasn't released from other police cars make no sense. Another thing is there was a burger king right next to where the shooting took place. The police went to the burger king to ask about the security footage. The manager showed them. When reporters went to ask about the video they found 90 minutes had been wiped by the police. This was such a blatant example of corruption in the police force. What's even more Disturbing than the corruption is the individual cop him self who fired 176 rounds into Laquan in less than 16 seconds. Not hesitating once even when he was on the ground not moving. The cop has now been charged with first degree murder as local politicians such as the district attorney try to cover their ass and get re-elected. Hopefully that won't happen though. This runs so many parallels to systemic violence that was going on through out the U.S in the 80's. Something that has seen a recent resurgence. Something that needs to be honestly addressed and snuffed out.
