Sunday night in New Orleans Bunny Friend Park a shooting occurred that injured 16 people and hospitalized 10. Hundreds of people had gathered for the unauthorized filming of a music video when shooting happened. Local news reports said that as many as 500 people were in the park at the time of the shooting. Police know only a little about this shooting because the witness are not coming forward with information. There is one quote from a witness in this article explaining, that "there were two groups that were firing shots back and forth at each other, and then ran off after each other on foot."
I think that is is very sad that no one is willing to come forward to say anything more about who committed this crime, but I can see that these people are afraid of what will happen to them if they do say something. I also wonder if the guns were part of the unauthorized music video, or if they were brought by spectators. There are plenty of times throughout history when more people should have stood up and said something, for example, slavery, segregation, and woman's suffrage. Just as the United States has overcome these injustices, I hope that these witnesses are able to gain the courage to bring important information about this shooting to the police.
