Madi Thoele, 4th Period: Thief Robs Charity Box at McDonald's

Summary: On Friday, November 27th, around Midnight in Atlanta, Georgia, a thief broke in to a McDonald's through the drive-thru window. He then headed straight for the charity box on the counter and proceeded to break it with a rock. He grabbed as much change as he could and ran out. The local police received a call from the supervisor around 4:30 AM reporting that the drive-thru window was broken. They then watched surveillance footage and saw this incident occur. The supervisor does not know how much money was stolen because it was from the charity box.

Analysis: If you absolutely have to steal, why steal money going towards charity? That's so sad. He could have stolen from the cash register right next to the charity money, which would still, of course, be stealing, but, in my opinion, it wouldn't have been as bad. The author, Rodney Harris, wrote this story on November 27th. It is not a biased article because there is nothing really to be biased about. This event can be related to the founding and colonizing of Jamestown, Virginia, the first permanent English settlement of the New World. The Englishmen would steal tools, food, animals, resources, or anything they could lay their hands on from the surrounding Native American Tribes. The unidentified thief can represent the Jamestown population, and the charity box can represent the innocent Native American population.
