Summary:
Late Sunday, a shootout occurred at a New Orleans park where an unauthorized music video was being filmed. Police say that they were on their way to the location when they started to hear gunshots just a block away. This shootout resulted in 17 injured people (11 of them being under the age of 21), however police hope that the 300-500 people that were on site will come forward and tell their stories so officials can better understand what went down. Because of the hesitation of witnesses, the reward for a video of the shooting was upped to $5,000.
Analysis:
This event leaves me with many questions just like many others. Questions like, "Why were guns even on location?", "Was this the plan of the 'music video' being filmed?", and "Were the people who shot at them part of the original group of people?". The only way to be able to answer these questions is if the 300-500 eye witnesses begin to come forward to assist officials in finding these suspects. At this point, I worry that this shooting happened completely out of the blue, similar to all of the recent school shootings and/or movie theater shootings, however even if there was a motive, any shooting event is unacceptable.

This just shows that gun violence has hit an all time low. If we can't even feel safe to go to a park, you know something is wrong. I have some the same questions as you. who films a music video in a park and why were there 500 people there? Hoping all is revealed sooner or later.
ReplyDeleteIt's pretty scary to think about how this shootout happened in a park. This most likely means that families with kids were in the neighboring areas when this occurred. This is scary for any witness/ anyone apart of it. I hope they find the suspects soon.
