Salmonella case: Peanut executive receives ground-breaking sentence-Molly Mitchell 5

In 2008 a case of salmonella broke out through company PCA's peanut products, killed nine people and sickened many more. Since then Stewart Parnell, executive of PCA, has been handed a 28 year prison sentence. For a 61 year old man, this is essentially a life sentence. Unless Parnell gets an appeal, he will have to serve out his entire sentence for knowingly shipping out deadly peanut products. Stewart Parnell's case is literally groundbreaking, never has a corporate executive been convicted of food poisoning charges and forced to face "justice". Although food safety activists rejoice in this case, they still voice their concerns, that greedy corporate food companies like PCA will knowingly poison the public again.

This case is unbelievably reassuring, to know that we can beat these huge companies, these giants seem untouchable most of the time, and to know that we might be able to eat without fear of sickness or death.
