On August 17th, roughly 200,000 Palestinian men, women, and children began to march from Lahore to Islamabad. This protest was erected in order to encourage the resignation of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and to encourage the transition into a democratic system of government. Citizens were outraged when Sharif was elected in 2013, claiming the election was rigged in his favor. The opposition, candidates Imran Khan and Tahir Ul Qadri, organized this march into the political district of Islamabad called the “red zone”, but when the congregation arrived, they found that the region had been blocked off by shipping containers filled with gasoline and guarded by riot police. Somehow gaining access to a crane, the Palestinian marchers moved these large containers in order to make a pathway straight to the parliament building where they stayed and rallied for a few more days. Following the peaceful protest, many leaders confessed to falsifying the election, giving the citizens of Palestine hope for change in the future.
In my opinion, the people of Palestine (and any other country in the world) should have the right to break free of tyrannical or oppressive rule. Obviously, this right is a leisure, and we probably will not see this happen for most countries in our lifetime. However, protesting is one method that people all over the world are using to overcome the hardships that their governments impose on them, and when many voices, in this case 200,000, get together, they can overpower even the strongest or most powerful people. Finally, Palestine may be able to overthrow their Prime Minister and replace him with someone who will listen to the problems of the poor and desolate and supply them with what they need to live comfortable and productive lives. Power to the people!

This is a really well constructed analysis! It is so inspiring to see a group of people rise above oppression and to know that it is actually possible "rise above" without violence. "Power to the people!" :)
