Over 706 infants and 43 workers have been exposed to tuberculosis(TB), in an El Paso hospital within the last year. An infected healthcare worker that had an active case of TB came into contact with infants. The hospital is communicating with patients via phone/mail regarding testing for TB, saying that they will cover cost of any extra treatments. The Texas Department of State Health Services put on an on-site investigation, claiming that they "found serious deficiencies in the areas of infection control, patient rights and governing body.” They are trying to work on solving the problem and are working on it to prevent it from happening again.
I am very surprised that this horrible event happened. It is very sad and very unprofessional on the hospitals part. The hospital is supposed to be a safe place where people are supposed to get better and healthier. You don't get sick at a hospital! A hospital is supposed to bring life, not potential death. Hopefully they get the problem fixed and be be more careful on what happens in that hospital.
