Tuberculosis Scare by Mackenzie McGregor

In an El Paso hospital, over 700 infants and 40 employees were exposed to tuberculosis via another employee between September 2013 and August 2014. The infected employee worked in the nursery and post-partum unit of the hospital. The employee is now receiving treatment, but the damage is done. The employee, without realizing it up until now, has exposed over 700 young infants to the disease. Even though the illness may not be active at first, it can become active at any time, threatening the lives of young infants and employees. It is concerning as the hospital is just now making this discovery, meaning that by now there could be a number of patients that were exposed to the ailment that they forgot to include. It is nerve-wracking to think the employees of locations created to help us recover from injuries or ailments could be contaminated unknowingly simply because the building's workers don't acknowledge small symptoms.

  1. How could he go to work if he was sick knowing he could risk the lives of small children?! So sad, hope everything works out. (Myles Bennett)
