Oregon teen accused of bringing homemade bomb to school/ Madeline Boreham/4th period

On Friday, September 26th, a sixteen year old student (whose name remains private because of his age.) Was detained at school by local police for bringing a self-made bomb to school, and placing it in his locker.
The police were first contacted by the schools administration when there had been rumors that a student had a bomb in his possession.  When the police questioned the young man he openly confessed to the explosive in his locker.  The student is now at the Cowlitz County Juvenile Detention Facility on charges of Manufacture and Possession of an Explosive Device and Disorderly Conduct. 
As of now there are no known motives. Police are now interviewing students looking for any signs of motivation for the student to bring the bomb.  Students were evacuated from the school to a nearby elementary school until it was deemed safe.
As a high school student it is very worrying that someone can sneak an explosive in so easily.  We always have to be prepared for any possibilities. It would be wise for the school to instal metal detectors and their police officer to monitor the children coming in to school. Also what could have prompted the student to bring the weapon in the first place, let alone make it? It seems like the child was not monitored by his family, nor the school. No one caught something that was obviously wrong, that caused him to build and take a bomb into a school environment. I hope that when the motives are discovered that they will not fall on deft ears. The school should take precautions to help prevent the weapon aspect, as well as the psychological aspect that motivated the child to bring it in the first place.
