Obesity Causes Early Puberty by: Milan Hamilton

It was at first noted that there was a dramatic decline in childhood obesity, but that was too good to be true. Recent analysis' show that childhood obesity is just as prevalent as it was at the beginning of the 21rst century. High obesity rates among children is very bad for many reasons: one is because childhood obesity cause children to go through puberty earlier. They are maturing at an increasingly young age and it is because more and more children are beginning to be overweight. The question is, why should we be concerned? Children who mature early are at a higher risk for various behavioral and psychological problems, including things that could seriously harm them, such as: substance abuse, precocious sec and delinquency. Girls who mature early are more likely to develop depression, anxiety, panic attacks and eating disorders. Women who have matured early are at a greater risk food getting breast cancer.

This is actually an interesting article and I think it was kind of a wake up call for everyone because it effects each and everyone one of us and how we live our daily lives. It shows just how important it is for us to remain healthy. In order for us to reverse this trend we have to educated parents and other children about the importance of eating right and exercising. This will benefit children not only mentally but also physically and hopefully help to shape a better, healthier America.

  1. Interesting to see how childhood obesity is not only harming their health but their mental state as well.

  3. This is why I feel every kid should be required to play outside or do some type of physical activity. Everyone should be healthy whats the point of living a unhealthy/fat filled life. Work hard then enjoy.
