Man Dies Doing ALS Ice Bucket Challenge- Katelyn Cook pd.3

A 41 year old fire fighter died after participating in an ALS ice bucket challenge gone wrong. Two firefighters were raised on a ladder while pouring water on college students below as part of a charity stunt to raise money for ALS. However, the ladder was slightly too close to a power line, which badly shocked the men. Alex Quinn survived the incident and was realsed from the hospital on Tuesday. Sadly, the other firefighter, Tony Grider, died a week later in the hospitalfrom burn related injuries. This arcticle was written in order to spread awerness of this horrible accident so that hopefully, nothing like this will happen again.

  1. Unfortunately the challenge was meant to be in dedication of many who have suffered from ALS, but it took the life of two men whom were only trying to help spread awareness. I hope people are learning from all of these tragic incidents. -Blythe Taylor 3rd

  2. That's terrible to hear. I'm glad they wanted to go all out to spread awareness, but they should've been more careful to their surroundings. Prayers to his family. -Jazmin G. 2nd period

  3. This is so awful! Very unfortunate, I also hope nothing like this happens again, especially because the ALS is supposed to save lives and raise awareness, rather than be a way of getting people killed.

  4. This is so shocking. You would think a firefighter's cause of death would be from an actual fire. If you think about it, he still died with saving lives in mind.
