Three Americans are being detained in North Korea. Kenneth Bae, Matthew Todd Miller and Jeffrey Edward Fowle were given five minutes each in a interview sent to Will Ripley, a CNN employee. The men have hope that someone will be sent to help them get out of their current situation. in is interview, Kenneth Bae complained of spending 6 days a week, 8 hours a day in a labor camp, while Edward Fowle mad no complaints about his treatment and is only praying his treatment does not worsen. Each have signed guilt statements for what they have been accused of. The U.S. has said they are monitoring this situation as closely as possibly and are hoping they can bring all three men home safely. Later in the article we hear statements from many family members or friend of these three men.
This article was written by Will Ripley and Holly Yan of CNN News. Will Ripley has a first hand experience on this topic because he was the one who received the videos. I believe that this was a very good article to be published. This article gives awareness to many people all over the U.S. who can give support for these men. Even if they do not know them. The government may say they are urgently working on bringing these men home to their families and yet we see no progress. hopefully support from the U.S. citizens will give the government that last push to bring these men home.

ReplyDeleteWow, what a scary situation. I wonder why the Americans are being detained, and what they are being accused of? I'm surprised the North Korean government allowed them to contact CNN; perhaps North Korea is hoping to bargain with the US in exchange for the Americans' safe return.

Oh my gosh, I couldn't even begin to imagine what they must be feeling. It's crazy to think this goes on in the world. It makes me wonder what North Korea plans to do with them. Would they use them as an example for the rest of the world? They obviously wanted the world to know, because they allowed them to talk to CNN. I think the U.S. is going to take their time to figure this one out, obviously getting them home is first priority, but they have to consider what else goes into the equation.
